Just returned from a one thousand - one hundred mile journey to follow my Civil War ancestors. Sulphur Trestle; Cahaba Alabama; Vicksburg Mississippi, were some of the more entertaining spots where I visited. Cahaba was the site of the first Capital of the State of Alabama, and later the location for a Confederate prison encampment; my GG grandfather's brother was interred there after being captured at Sulphur Trestle.
Two lane country roads, interstate highways, dirt roads, all most competently handled by the E450 wagon. The more I drive this car the more I am amazed at how it handles, rides, provides for cargo, and does all with ease. I averaged 30.1 mpg on the two lane portion of the drive, most of it in the 45 ~ 55 mph range; and averaged 31.6 mpg on the interstate averaging 72 mph. Such an amazing vehicle. Long Roofs Rule! Background structure is a skeletal representation of the original Alabama State Capital building. Stone commemorates the archeological site; the town is now gone, however the streets and a few structures are left.
