Experience with Extended MB Warranties: Did it make financial sense?
Did a search and was unable to find information on users’ actual experience with the MB Extended warranty:
I have priced out the three years/75,000-mile extended warranty at $2200 + tax from two different sources.
My question is for those who have actually bought an extended warranty: have you used it - or has your Mercedes been trouble free after the factory warranty ran out at 4 years/50,000 miles?
My 2019 E450 has 30,000 miles and the warranty ends on 12/30/2022. Over the next three years I anticipate another 20,000 miles, total of 50,000 miles.
So far, other than a switch to control the intelligent lighting, my E450 has been "bullet proof". (do not want to jinx it!) I am not risk adverse and can afford any major repair. Peace of mind is not important and has little value to me:
So basically my question for those who have bought a MB Extended Warranty, has it made financial sense or would you have been better off just paying for repairs as they came along?

In my case I'm definitely happy that I got the factory ELW. Dealer had the car for eight weeks, put in ~$5,000 in parts and likely the same in labor for a recent issue at 61k miles.

Can you be more specific as to:
- The nature of your repairs and their cost?
- When the repairs were needed: how old was the car and the mileage?
- What year was your S class?

This is not a highly tuned engine despite being supposedly an AMG.
Worst problem up to that point was internet connectivity.

Started with a check engine light for a knock sensor fail accompanied by what sounded like a collapsed valve lifter. They wound up replacing both cams, all lifters and rocker arms, cam adjuster solenoids, the high pressure fuel pump and the ECU and harness. I was expecting a replacement engine next.
This is not a highly tuned engine despite being supposedly an AMG.
Worst problem up to that point was internet connectivity.

Sorry to learn of your problems. 8 weeks without a car: WOW - it does not take 8 weeks to build a Mercedes.
