The e400 is a 6 cylinder. Did you test drive the e300 before you bought it?

E300
I bet, you will come back here and say this sounds way nicer after u get used to it. E300 4 cyl, doesn't look or sound good at the first sight, but continuous looking and hearing will make you like it more. I always put it in sport (not the plus) and the engine roar is good. I know its not the fastest, but definitely like the steering/maneuvering etc.

If your E300 sounds like a Cheap Hyundai, I would ask your dealer to look at it, or in this case, listen to it. I owned a few 4 bangers in the pass, this E300 is the best sounding 4 cylinder out of them all, especially in sport mode. Of course the E400 will sound better but its all relative, it depends on what you compare it to. For example, the V8 in my CLS550 sounds much better than the E400.
