W213 Grill change

Hi,
Quick one if anyone knows or has done a grill change one a W213 2018.
I just had the grill changed at the bodyshop and when they installed it they removed the active radiator shutters and said that these do not fit with the new grill.

Just wanted to ask if changing the grill to one like this one https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/273662443456?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=SOYGFsRtTqu&sssrc=2349624&ssuid=8x8NYculTf 6&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY

Does the radiator shutters need to be removed?

Thanks

Pretty sure the active shutter forms part of the classic grill (when optioned), they're integrated with each other.

It’s unlikely you could separate them to fit the shutter on the avant-garde or AMG style grill (and it would look pretty janky if you tried). Some of the amazing members on here with tech expertise will confirm either way.

Edit- sorry man, it’s actually the w205 that has it integrated in the grill. I see the w213 has an entirely separate part behind the grill piece. Hopefully someone can confirm for you- 🤦‍♂️👍

I have done this on my car and the video's are on my Youtube. I have the active shutters behind the grille (E220D) and there were no issues. I am 99% certain that they remain on the car when you remove the bumper but without loooking at the video's I can't remember as it was nearly 4 years ago. Either way it wasn't an issue so I sense the wiff of BS at not wnating to do the job (or charge nmore!)
