Multifunction camera - interchangeability question

My car’s VIN: WDD2384482F042172 (2018 E300 Cabrio)
The camera part number in my car: A213 900 57 19
The donor car’s VIN: WDD2130642A185754 (2016 E43 Sedan)
The part number on the replacement I’ve sourced: A213 900 71 11
Looking online in some part catalogs there are suggestions that these are interchangeable and replacement I’ve sourced is just the version immediately prior (and that the software in the unit should auto-update when my auto-electrician codes and calibrates it using his Mercedes service system, assuming this is Xentry?).
The spares shop I’ve sourced the part from also checked the VIN numbers and advised it would be interchangeable. The parts are also physically identical.
Was hoping someone here might shed some light on the interchangeability question.
Background-
- Was having issues with certain functions failing consistently after 10 min of night driving. No distronic/lane keep/traffic sign reading (dash messages: lane keep assist unavailable, traffic sign assist unavailable, brake assist functions limited).
- Had a very reputable and highly recommended auto electrician attempt diagnosis and recalibration but couldn’t resolve the issue. He disassembled and tested all the components (including the heating elements and cleaned the glass). The initial error code at that stage (stored from the night driving) was B229B97 “The multifunction camera has a malfunction. The system function is restricted. The field of view of A40/13 is completely restricted”
- Plan was to get another camera to test/isolate if the camera was the culprit.
- A few days later, the camera appears to have failed entirely and the messages now appear on startup. The current, persistent, error code is now U11A302 “Communication with control unit ‘multifunction camera’ has a malfunction. There is a general signal fault”.
- The auto electrician advises that the camera has now failed, so I sourced another locally. Have been recommended to check with Mercedes whether the parts are interchangeable.
- Worst case- I can source an identical one from Germany (but as I am in Australia, this will involve a very long shipping time).

Luckily, my auto-electrician was able to source a camera with an identical part number within a day, this has been coded and calibrated successfully. The error messages are now gone and I have intelligent drive features back again.
I was able to return the other camera for a full refund. So this all ended happily ever after. 😁
Thanks again for your help, @konigstiger. Really appreciate it.
