Not to mention safety. To me someone who is going to maintain a car like this at Walmart might as well just be driving a Chevy or a Toyota or Honda. In the long haul not doing this right your not gonna be driving a mb for the long haul if you don’t do things right.
Utter nonsense: It is no more difficult to change a battery in Mercedes than in a Chevy, Toyota or Honda. Walmart service center does hundred of batteries. I am confident that they can change a battery in a Mercedes!

I believe if you did have a issue such as a error message in your mb Walmart is not gonna have a clue what’s going on with your car. They aren’t gonna have a clue that your battery is overcharging or undercharging and could not really care less because your battery was not registered to the car when it was replaced.
If an error codes comes and does not self correct after driving, then I will take it to Mercedes under my extended warranty.

You worry far too much! Never heard the the electrical systems in a Mercedes are finicking. I take my E450 to Vermont where it is minus 10 and never had a problem!

Our cars do require battery registration. I enjoy doing some work on my car, I used to do a lot more. I recently replaced my battery with an Interstate battery from Costco. I called the dealer and a couple of indy shops and was quoted $140-$250 for the battery coding. I purchased a scanner/coder with Mercedes battery registration capability for $150 and did it myself. It wasn't difficult. Now I have the scanner for future use.

Well, I just found out that my dealership charges $521 and an Indy charges $540. Jeez.

Try Walmart: Under $200 with 5 year warranty!

A battery is a battery!

At least around where I live Walmart won’t do a battery in a Mercedes. They don’t even list a battery for it in there data banks. They don’t have the scanner to register the battery either besides that Walmart is not touching my car.

Walmart at least in my area will not work on run flat tires either even if you have an emergency.

I believe this is a repeat post: You previously posted that you would not let Walmart replace your batter.

Since your post, others have posted that registering your battery is not necessary: Just remove the old and put in the new.

Here is the listing for the H6, H7 and H8 all of which will fit

I paid $373 for just the battery from Mercedes, so I agree that $500 would be in the ball park if they also install it.

They replaced mine today, the original lasted a little over 5 years but was on it's last legs the past year. Everything including auto start is back to normal now. Had them do a service A. Ended up going out of the dealer with a 1000 dollar charge for both things. Not cheap but at least everything was done by the book.
I was told the same thing by my service advisor. I had an indy shop do it because there was a massive cost difference between the two and I was looking to build a relationship with a local indy shop.

Update:

Just returned from Costco for new tires on my Ford Edge Sport. Very professional.

Costco has Intersate batteries in sizes H6, H7 and H8. The cost of the H8, 3 year warranty was $169. I assume the H7 and H6 were the same or less. The batteries are dated 5/24 - so they are extremely fresh, which is what you would expect with Costco.

However, Costco does not do battery installation, so this would be DIY or pay an indy shop: keep in mind the H8 is very, very heavy - way to heavy for me to install.
