W213 2022 E200 engine vibration on cold start for a couple of seconds
I have a 2022 E200 petrol with EQ boost ( I believe M264 but not sure), when cold starting the car, I feel a minor vibration from the engine side that lasts for a second or tow only then disappears.
I have read some articles on this issue from on a local car blog owned by someone who has a service center but frankly speaking, I'm not correlating what he mentioned specially that he writes his articles without much of technical details.
What I understand from that article is that this has been a known issue for many M260/264 engines, and it was solved by a SW update in some cases, changing a pump that he didn't even mention which pump and in other cases or sometimes swapping the engine!!!
Any ideas on what the issue is? and whether that blogger's article is actually true?
My symptoms:
- cold start
- engine revs at cca 1200 rpm
- stays there for about 15-20 seconds
- I feel the vibrations when it starts dropping to 800-900 rpm
A few months ago it was more noticeable. Maybe I just paid more attention when I got the car.
Ambient temperature was 5’C at around 12 am, and the car was parked on the street for the preceding 4 hours.
Upon starting, the engine and car rattled and vibrated at a noticeably quick frequency for 15 seconds or so with a loud chattering sound. I switched it off, then started it up again and the car started normally with a purring engine.
I’ve been wary since. Curious to know what this has to do with the engine mounts, as they seem to be dampening all other times.
