Parking Sensors / Rear Diffuser

So i’m looking to swap out my rear diffuser on my ‘17 wagon, preferably for the Brabus styled one. From what i’ve seen, most of the rear diffuser options will require me to drill holes for the parking sensors.

My dilemma is that after reviewing closely, its appears there isn't enough space on the top of the diffuser for the parking sensors. The actual diffuser comes up higher and has more of a protrusion on the upper lip (see pic 1).
The other diffusers (E53 & E63) have enough space for it. (pics 2 & 3)

So ultimately my question here is about the sensors. Since i’ve seemingly found no one who has done this i’m likely not getting an answer about the sensors fitting on the Brabus style one without buying it myself.

1. If i do manage to fit the sensors on the Brabus style diffuser, will the more aggressively protruding lip affect the sensor? If it fits, the sensors will literally be sitting on the protrusion and i don’t know how that’ll affect its ability to perform properly.

2. If the sensors do not fit on the diffuser, can i relocate them an inch or two above where they belong so that they sit on the actual bumper instead? (see pic 4) Again i don’t know how sensitive these mercedes sensors are or how they are programmed or whatever. I don’t want my sensors to always be beeping or just not work at all.

I’m hoping i can get some insight here before i start wasting money and drilling holes. Any input is appreciated!

Well that does tell me the sensors work in other positions atleast on a different trim. i’m hoping its not anything that programmed differently though. going to have to just give it a shot and see what happens.

So I just went through this. The diffuser you posted above, with the red light on it, does not have enough space to put the holes at the top. I was going to relocate them a little lower. However unfortunately when I was drilling I ended up slipping my drill bit and it scratched the whole diffuser on one side. So basically I just wasted about $390 on this Chinese diffuser. Although it looked pretty good. I ended up ordering a different one, and it's a knockoff of the e53 rear. This does have enough room to put the sensors in where they are factory. It's just a little bit of a pain. I haven't done it yet so my rear sensor is going nuts when I put my car in reverse. I'm nervous to do it because I don't want to scratch this one either, but I need to get it done. That being said, if you are confident in your drilling skills, go ahead and get either cuz you can do them. As I have done them. They will work relocated but they just might be sensitive because they're pointing at a different angle than oem. On the e53 diffuser that I put on, they should be just perfect because it's almost in the stock location. You can follow my YouTube and Instagram below, since I'm continuing to do things on this wagon.

Did you drill smaller pilot holes first? How hard was installing the diffuser itself in terms of unclipping and clipping each clip in place? Which e53 diffuser did you go with?

car looks good, been following your journey on YT!
