I have it linked, but it opens all my garage doors instead just the one I want, and it won’t open my gate at all. I’ve been on the phone with MyQ who told me to call Mercedes who told me to call MyQ. . . .

Do you have multiple garage doors and, if so, can you get it to open only the one you want?

I can use the button on the mirror, of course, but this is supposed to work and so I want it to.

I have two garage doors at the main house. Another at the NC place. Another at the Gulf place....I have gates....and...I have one of the three Home Link buttons setup for one of two garage doors. MyQ never, ever not once worked right with more than one door in it (it would open both). I do not want to risk one of the 'remote' doors getting opened and me missing it (heck, most of my doors are open most of the time anyway).

Seriously....there are more important things...like, is that Cheddar Pretzel Combo that you dropped that one time still under the drivers seat?

Has anyone recently tried their MyQ connection? I haven't used mine in a while but then I tried to confirm if my garage was closed the other day and it didn't work. So I started troubleshooting but I can't seem to get my Mercedes Me app to authorize the connection now. I wonder if this connection broke with the new Mercedes Me app update.

How to authorize MyQ connection with Mercedes Me:

Link your Mercedes-Benz to myQ Connected Garage with Mercedes me connect App
  1. Launch your Mercedes ME app.
  2. Tap the settings menu in the top left corner.
  3. Tap your linked Mercedes-Benz vehicle.
  4. Tap Manage Services.
  5. Tap Comfort.
  6. Tap MBUX Voice Assistant.
  7. Tap Linked Accounts.
  8. Tap myQ Connected Garage.

My house is set up with speakers and wifi-controlled lighting that respond to voice commands all over and a Chamberlain MyQ opener. It *used* to be possible to tell my house or mobile phone "hey google, tell MyQ to close the garage door" or "ask MyQ the status of my garage door." That has stopped working with recent assistant changes from Google. The MyQ app still works fine.

And for the cross-eye neanderthals that can't understand needing something past a physical button, it allows you to control or query the unit while out of range of your neanderthal garage opener. 2 miles away from home and cant remember if you closed the door? Ask google to ask MyQ, or nowadays pull over and check the MyQ app on your phone instead of driving back to the house and checking. Duh.

I keep it simple. I don't need to do anything as my garage door is set to automatically close a few minutes after opening.

I also just opt to live in a good neighborhood where all of us watch out for each other and do not live in fear. Plus, we have "Stand your ground" and can shoot someone who is trying to go into our garage - then get an award from the sheriff.

In my high-end area of townhomes, garage doors can't be open unless someone is in the garage. There is nothing uglier than an open door with "stuff" visible from the street.

LOL, I once lived in a neighborhood with such rules. I painted the inside of my garage Safty Yellow, Bubble Gum Pink and Barney Purple and would frequently put my 991 Turbo S on jack stands just to screw with "them".

Currently, none of the garages face the road....problem solved. The US is supposed to be the "Land of the Free" - in Illinois, we were not Free. In Florida, hell yeah we are, if you do not like how your neighbor's yard looks...dont look at it (or look at it, buy it, clean it up and shut up).

  1. I enter and exit my house frequently through the garage on foot or bike, so I can open/close the garage from my phone
  2. When I'm driving a loaner or another car in general, I can open/close the garage from the CarPlay dashboard or phone
  3. I have automations set up that automatically close my garage. For example when I leave, I can tap one button on my phone. This triggers a scene/automation that closes the garage, locks all the doors and arms the alarm system.
  4. Similarly, when I arrive, I can tap a single button on my phone to open the garage, unlock the door to the house and disarm the alarm system in one shot.
  5. Instruct Siri to open/close the garage
My car doesn't support the MyQ integration, and I'm frankly kinda done with MyQ given their recent crackdown on third-party integrations. They refuse to play with the big smart home platforms such as Apple Homekit, Google Home, Alexa etc. Switched to Meross and left MyQ primarily as a backup and for Amazon Key Delivery, but I haven't used it for either in a while. Might delete my MyQ account at some point.
I have Genie Aladin and it is a lot worse. The only plus is that there is no fee for Alarm.com integration. The biggest downside is that you have to have a Genie instead of a Liftmaster. Also Aladin has far less functionality. No CarPlay for instance. Also they don't have a smart video keypad.

Yeah, and you of course know that (guys like me) can listen to you, right? I do use the app and have a WiFi network on its own VLAN with full UTM just for "Smart Appliances". Being as I spent about half of my life playing IT games (MCSE, CCIE and on and on and on). I prefer to keep my private life PRIVATE.

Seriously, I miss the days when we could remove the batteries from our cell phones....I keep meaning to put some aluminum foil in the car(s) to wrap it with...if I needed to....

There's an off button if one can't remove the batteries.
I've been in IT, etc. since the early 1960's. I love to mess with unknown wi-fi signals. Most of my home network is GbE. I have one wi-fi subnet for the odd IoT stuff.

We both know "Off" does not mean that a device is off..... pretty much every mobile device effectively has WOL type features....

What is fun for me - just on guest WiFi networks in business and start casting to their TV's. At a place getting pedicures I was casting Faces of Death to four of their televisions. That said, a Burger King refused to take my order in person....I MUST use the Kiosk...so, I used the Kiosk....

So I figured out that my MyQ is still connected and works. However, I used to be able to say "what's the status of my garage door" and it would say either closed or open. Now I have to say "is my garage door closed?" Not sure why it changed but happy it's working again, I don't use it much but it's useful for special cases like this.
