Stop start and a rain problem

Hi,
Just bought a 2017 E220D, the second in two months as the first one was stolen within a couple of weeks after purchase, (i have a Ghost immobaliser installed on the current one so hopefuuily i keep hold of this one) but i noticed both did not stop/start, first had 55K and the current one 30K. any ideas why they both did not work.

But alarmingly i drove though some drove through some heavy rain today, not crazy rain but heavy and there was a large buid up of water on the top right drivers side of the screen which was getting dragged back over the screen by the wiper, like around 8-10 inches into the screen. They are new Bosch wipers. It was a bit worrying as it dragged it back into where you need to have good sight, anyone seen that befor eplease?

Mark.

There are certain variables that’s taken into consideration for stop/start to be engaged. I am not sure of all, however drive mode and AC on are a couple

You probably have a week battery. Next time you change your battery I bet the feature will start working again. Went through this with mine.

I agree, battery condition is what usually causes my fleet's start/stop to not function. Often the ones that don't work, start working when we take them on long many hours-long drives. Like magic!

I have two questions. First, why do you even want stop/start? I found it so annoying that I bought I device from an Ebay vendor so that the stop/start would remember the last setting (which for me is OFF) -- otherwise, it reverts back to ON every 5 hours. Second, how did your car get stolen? It's not like the old days when you could just hot wire the car. I thought there was no way to start the car without the key being recognized by the car,

Might be relay attack, double press the lock button to disable the keyless go function, confirm if disabled.

I love the stop start function because the engine is very noisy, especially when the windows are open. At stop lights the sound reflects off the vehicles and building beside you. Where I live many of the stop lights last for 4-5 minutes. All of my driving is in the city wihere stop lights pop up like weeds. I surmise the fuel savings add up to about 30 minutes of driving per day when I'm stopped at a red light.

You may be wearing off the engine mounts though, the starter (yes I know MB claims the starter is more robustly designed now), voltage sensitive systems, battery, etc.

As I recall, you live in Florida, right? The traffic lights are indeed long there. You could read War and Peace while waiting for the light to turn green. The stop/start function was driving me crazy whenever I pulled into the garage slowly. The engine would turn off and back on again as I stopped to position the car just right in the garage. We have a short garage, so too far and you might be too close to the interior door, and not far enough and the hatch may hit the garage door when opening it. I installed a laser park assist so that we could position the car at just the right spot but you have to inch in very slowly to get it right.

Ya that does drive you crazy, there are times that you are coming to a stop and the engine turns off, fine but then you hit park it turns back on before you can turn off the ignition, that type of thing.

The car is 8 years old. If start/stop induced premature wear, it would have occured by now.
