W213 Cluster Keeps Resetting to KM — Need to Lock to Miles Without Triggering Mileage
Hi all,
I have a 2020 Mercedes E350d (W213 facelift) showing 93,000 miles. The car was possibly clocked before I bought it.
The issue I’m facing is that the instrument cluster keeps switching back to KM after every restart, even though it was SCN coded to miles. It reprograms itself back, and I suspect there’s a region mismatch between the KI (cluster), DTA (telematics), and PTCU (drivetrain).
I’m trying to get this sorted without replacing the cluster or triggering a full VIN/mileage sync, which could potentially pull the real (higher) stored mileage from other modules.

- Locking the vehicle’s regional coding to UK
- Disabling fallback/sync from the DTA module
- Forcing MPH display and stopping it from reverting to KM

Does it sound like the issue I and at least one other member have been experiencing outlined in the thread linked below? It is indeed like somehow it decides to reset to a certain default. We've had no luck fixing this so far. I've replaced the main and aux battery, reflashed the COMAND head unit and the digital instrument cluster. Nothing has fixed it. This issue started out of the blue after owning the car for about 5 years. The only strange coincidence is that it started after the car was in for scheduled maintenance. I've sort of given up on it for now and just live with it, but still interested in finding a fix. I don't drive the car every day, so it hasn't been too much of an annoyance to change the two settings back that keep resetting, but still annoying that it happens.
