Question Input needed regarding noise when turning wheel

Hey!

I was test driving a Certified 2022 Mercedes E450 4matic sedan and noticed while reversing when I turned the wheel all the way to one side there was a loud rubbing/grinding kind of noise towards the end of the turn when the brake was pressed. When asked I was told this was normal. Does anyone else also hear that kind of noise in their car?

They put 2 new front tires which are the right size.

Here's a short video with sound: https://imgur.com/PUNECv0

Please share any experiences or input regarding this. Thanks in advance!

Put the car in park and release the parking break. Then turn the wheel again and see if the same sound comes about. If it does, it’ll be something having to do with the suspension components or the axle shaft. I’ve had the same exact sound happen on my E300 and when I looked down on the axle shaft boot, it was torn and there was dirt inside that wore out the bearings or whatever. Could be your case as well. Could also be a control arm or tie rod etc. have someone check it out.

if the sound doesn’t occur again after putting it in park without the parking break applied, it’ll more than likely be that when you’re pressing the break pedal, the rotating of the steering wheel is moving the car ever so slightly causing the breaks to make the noise.
