Sluggish CarPlay after update
Sluggish CarPlay after update
Hello all,
here a weird problem I have. My car (2021 E450 4matic) was not connecting to my phone through mercedesMe. I tried a few times with my local dealership to look at that, but everytime they either ignored this part, or they told me “we would need to keep the car for weeks and can’t give you a loaner”. Sure. A year passes, and in June 2025 I decided to go to the dealership where I bought the car (1h30 hour driving). They just do an “update” and bam: it connects. Took them 20 min. Tried to charge me a diag fee, had to fight my way out of it (CPO car, covered until Jan 2029).
On the way back, I noticed that the music was “skipping”, meaning a short pause and play again, and the head unit became sluggish. I thought it was just because it was a very warm day. After months, I realized that the unit would go slow after 30 min driving, and Apple CarPlay would get sluggish, music would skip (radio, Bluetooth and CarPlay). I reset the unit by pressing buttons on the console, and it goes again with no problems for 30-40 minutes. Not the biggest issue but honestly very annoying. I tried to contact Mercedes online, they of course say only dealership can do anything. I drop it to the closest to me, they just do an “update” (which ended up being just a reset I guess since there was no update available). They drove the car for an hour and said they could not see anything wrong. They claimed that I was probably “touching the steering wheel buttons while I was driving”. I showed them many videos of the issue, with no buttons being pressed, and they said “well we can’t reproduce your problem. Pay a diag fee and bye”. Obviously, the problem re-appeared 24 hours later. I tried different phones, different cables, only using Bluetooth, the problem always appears after 30-40 min driving. Sounds like a hardware problem, and Mercedes and dealership does not want to help.
any ideas ??
