Discovered nice undocumented window feature

I play golf and like to open all the windows while I am loading up after my round. But I don’t want to open the sunroof.
Yesterday I discovered that if I held the “open” button down on the remote until the windows started opening and then clicked the “open” button just as they finished, the sunroof would not open.

Interesting, in the past models it always open the sunshade first then the windows and sunroof at the same time so they changed it for W214?

It is most definitely a change for the better.
On my 2021 E450 I got in and started the car, rolled down the windows, turned off the car and then went back to unload my golf cart while the car cooled. In my 2024 E450 it is more convenient, and much more pleasant for my girlfriend who sits in the car while I am unloading and returning the golf cart.

The e450 likely also had an auto down feature with the remote. It may depend on if it’s a keyless go car. This feature has been around for more than 20 years on many makes and models. Without a keyless go feature usually you had to put the key in the door and turn to unlock, and the windows would go down with it if held. Convenient indeed.

The windows can all be opened by keeping a finger on the door unlock button too.

On mine, if the weather gets too hot while I'm parked, the windows will open automatically about 1/2" all the way around, not sure if this an option or all 2014 E350 comes standard with this feature...

That's interesting. Both my E350 or E450 have not done that and it's been plenty hot on several occasions where you would think it would have if so equipped. I do mostly park in a garage at home and work and when I am out and about, I try to park in shade when possible. Maybe that's why.

Even in my garage, one day it was really hot and I get an alert from my MB app to say that the windows are open. I went to the garage and sure enough the windows were open. I didn't think anything of it and closed the windows. Then one day I went to a city that was over 90 F, but I had the AC running when I was in a parking lot. I turned off the car and 2-3 minutes later came back to the car just in time to see the windows all slid down all by itself, that was how I found out.....

It is pretty cool, in Europe it should close the sunroof itself in previous models when the rain sensor detects rain, I am not sure if they finally brought that to North America.

That would be a nice option as I'm sure most people that open their sunroof don't usually close it if they just go for a quick shop in the supermarket.... A pity that European models gets more options than we do, including self park, which would be a nice option as my garage is pretty narrow..

I tried it and it doesn't work. You also cannot close the sunroof through verbal command. Some type of safety regulation in the US that doesn't allow any automated movement of the windows.

It does allow you to open the windows and sunroof with the key by holding down the unlock so for some reason that's okay but closing is not. And still don't know why you cannot open the sunroof with voice command.

If I recalled correctly, the auto sunroof closing when senses rain not available has to do with safety regs in USA, then the USA also didn't get full functionality of the intelligent high beam for the longest time.

On my W213 the windows and sun roof open with a steady push on the fob unlock button. The windows and sun roof close with a steady push on the lock button.
