red on an E
just curious what owners think of red for an E class sedan. my heart says yes but curious what others who've done this think after doing it.

Well, since you are asking for opinions you are going to get many different ones. Color choice is personal to many. If you like it, who cares what anyone else thinks. My opinion is that I would not care to own a red, white, green, or orange car. That doesn't mean I don't think those colors look good on some cars. They do, but for me, red is better looking on a sports car rather than a luxury sedan. I prefer darker colors like black, dark blue or dark gray on a car like the E-Class. I also really like the new Verde silver metallic which looks fantastic on the E. The online configuration is pretty good at giving you an idea what the car will look like with a selected color. If I were to configure it with red, it would be with the black wheels and the night package. Still, I prefer the blue with grey accent wheels and chrome trim which is what I got.

Of the 32 '24 E class inventory on the lot at my local dealer there are 5 black and 11 white cars. The rest are red, silver or grey. Notably, there are no blue, brown or green cars in stock.

I guess it benefits in the winter because when it is cold, people see you as the fireball which is where the warmth is, so they follow you and end up befriending you.

Anecdotal, but I rarely see a MB sedan in red out on the road. The red MBs I usually see are coupes and SUVs. I've never owned a red car but that's not to say I won't. I do have a red motorcycle though and have had several red motorcycles in the past.

I do to agree with OP to go with red, the only issue I have with red is that the taillights then vanish in the paint, the design of the housing is therefore affected (not just the W214) basically most MB models has a red housing.
The other issue is the one I mentioned earlier, you look like a fireball in the summer and there is a risk (a minimal one but it is there that people will yell at you, road rage due to the colour). It does help that it is a sedan and not an SUV though. That said, I am sharing this thought because it was literally an experience of a friend with a red GLC.

Saying one car manufacturers red is better than another is 100% opinion. In my view, who cares if someone else likes or doesn't like your color choice. If you are buying a car, get the color you like.

Like I said, it is from what I read. It is not my opinion, I agree it is an opinion though not a fact.

Mazda's Soul Red Crystal is the prettiest red I've seen on any production vehicle. The clarity and depth are top notch. On Mercedes, I think the Patagonia red is slightly better than Cardinal and is a new color. Cardinal is one of the oldest paints Mercedes still has available. I'm sure they will phase it out completely and will only have Patagonia.
