MBUX Frozen
Had my first MBUX freeze, very odd experience, was at the PIN number screen when I remembered that had left something at home, I put the car in park and opened the door. The main screen froze completely and the drivers screen only showed some graphics and the speed. Despite trying a few things like switching off and on, I had to drive 40 miles with only the speedo for information. Strangely it eventually cleared when I got to my destination and exited the car. Hope this is not the start of problems on a two month old car. It appeared during my drive that some safety features were still active , but not communicating with the dashboard or the center screen.

Sounds like a hiccup. I had a similar problem once. The MBUX screen went all black when I was driving. I stopped the car and power-cycled the engine (can we say this to a car?). The MBUX screen came back, but the cluster screen only showed the speed. Fortunately I was close to my destination, so I just drove rest of the route. Parked the car for several hours and it fixed itself.
I believe no one has been trained to solve this kind problems except for the MB engineers who designed the system, but I don't expect them to troubleshoot this kind of software problem from a specific owner. If it happens frequently, then head to the dealership and they may try with software update.

Worked in IT and electronics all my life and love seeing these things evolve, but it brings risks, what I was not sure was how to reset the system immediately. It’s not truly surprising with this amount of tech in a car. Hopefully with each update it should get more stable .

Greetings: I have had the same Blackouts for my main screens and the driver info center since I took possession of my auto at the end of July 2024. It is a common error with our make and year. Two software updates during past three months as well as data put in system by dealer per Mercedes. Was great for 6 weeks and then went black yesterday. It rebooted after 5-6 seconds and didn't lose a beat. Auto is at dealer now for a third software update that just came out. Also, gave written permission for Mercedes to monitor my data as I drive so they can troubleshoot if screens go black again. Looks like Mercedes is correcting issue per driver as stated above. Let you know how the future holds for us.

Forgot to add that I filed a complain with the National Transportation Site as this could be a safety issue if these screens go black at night and if using the navigation app. not to mention not knowing the speed of area and how fast you are going. My screens never went Black at night.

Do you have to select your profile each time you enter the car? Do you have in-car camera? Mine had a bunch of problems from the beginning and they still try to fix it, one of them is that it can't connect to Mercedes me profile and I wonder if it does face recognition or I have to select my profile manually time when it will start to work one day, I hope.

My dealership in NJ had my car for three days getting an downloading software updates to three control modules. Mercedes feels that this should have corrected the blackout/reboot issue on our MBUX System. So far so good. Will have to wait a few weeks as last time, car went five weeks before screen blacked out.

Just FYI, the 2025 GLC models with MBUX 3 might not be perfect either. Mine has blacked out and then come back. But knocked me out of CarPlay and had to unpair phone and re-pair it, all while pulled over in Park along busy highway as car wouldn't let me do anything while driving. Once so far in two weeks since I've had the car.
