I also checked when the engine was warmed up and it was still going through just one exhaust.I did notice that the other exhaust has an electronic valve that can open it or close it, but I don’t know when it would open it, I guess maybe at full throttle.

About 8 months ago, while my car was under the extended warranty, when I turned the car off there was a loud shriek. When I took it into the dealer, the problem was diagnosed as the flap in the exhaust system, when you are in either sport or sport+ mode, was not operating properly. Keep in mind that I drive my car in Comfort or Economy mode not in either sport or sport+ modes. The dealer tried lubricating the flap and that did not work. The entire exhaust system had to be replaced, over $2400, which was covered by the extended warranty.
All this to get a louder sound in sport and sport+ and "burping sound" with engine braking and/or downshifting. Seems kinda silly to me, but the flap is what it is.

Op what year is the e450? I just traded in a 2019 and the only time I’d get full dual exhaust effect was in sport plus mode. When putting the car in that sports plus mode from comfort you could hear the solinoid valve click and the exhaust would get noticeably louder On my 2025 not really sure although there is no sport plus mode so maybe true duel is on demand only like after a certain turbo boost pressure or something.
