Mercedes App on iPhone Can Be Made into a Widget
This may interest some folks. You can change the Mercedes app on an iPhone into a widget, if you so desire. Here's how to do it:
- Press and Hold down on the app
- This screen appears and you can choose a widget size

The widget has existed for a while. What's new with iOS 18 is that you are no longer restricted to a grid of app icons and separate widgets on the home screen. The widget is semi-useful, though. It doesn't correctly reflect lock status and such. If the car is unlocked, the widget still shows a locked padlock, but you can tap on it and be taken straight to the lock status. It repeats the same shortcuts that the long press menu already has.
