I know there is a way to do it via shortcuts on the iPhone so I won't have to open Hotspot every time I start the car and click on the hot spot for my iPhone via the cars screen. Who has done this so it's enabled automatically such as when bluetooth activates to automatically enable apple car play? I have pulled up the shortcut app on the phone but I've never setup a shortcut before and could use a step by step run down of how to activate a shortcut that would run automatically so I can just get in my car and drive and have internet. Doing in manually is not too bad but one more step to do before I start driving. Thanks in advance.

That's a two part process. You first have to create a shortcut to turn the hotspot on, then create a personal automation that triggers the shortcut when Bluetooth connects to your car.
Shortcut:
Automation:
Shortcut:
- Open the Shortcuts app and on the Shortcuts tab hit +
- In the Search Actions box type hotspot, then tap Set Personal Hotspot to add the action to your shortcut, This will add an action "Turn Personal Hotspot On"
- Tap Done
Automation:
- Still in the Shortcuts app, switch to the Automation tab and hit +
- In the search box type Bluetooth and tap Bluetooth in the search results
- Tap on Choose next to Device and select your car's BT connection. Leave "Is Connected" checked
- Tap on "Run Immediately" to not require a confirmation from you before the automation runs.
- Tap Next
- On the next screen under My Shortcuts, you should see the shortcut you created previously. Tap it.
- You are done.

Thanks so much superswiss. That was a great description of how to setup the short cut. Just did it and hopefully got it right I'll go to the car now and try it. No wonder I couldn't figure it out though, pretty complicated, at least for me I'm not super tech savvy. This new 214 can be more of a challenge but it is kinda fun learning all these things.

Thanks again. Seemed to work. Initially it gave an error but then I hit in set hotspot password when connecting to mbux. I turned the ignition off a couple of times and everything came right back up when I turned on the ignition switch. A lot of people can benefit by this knowledge. These forums are great.
