Am I the only one that thinks those AMG Performance Seats are hideous? Beautiful car otherwise.

They are also very uncomfortable for longer drives. At least that's my personal experience. I dislike that they're forced on the US version.

I thought there is an option for the multi-contour seats on the E53.

Agreed. The uptake on some of the options when you exclude the Edition 1 forced selection is quite interesting. This is based on the 72 cars that so far have shown up on mbusa.com, the only source I have access to. Basically all cars come with Driver Assist and 2/3 of them have the Multicontour seats and the soft close doors. And about 50-50 whether the car has the Dynamic Plus package or not.

Interesting — seems like Driving Assist pack should come standard with the way people are ordering.

Took the car on a trip to Niagara Falls this weekend. Absolute dream. Almost at the 1000mi mark for running in. Excited to push the car more, but so stable sitting on the highway and easy with the radar cruise and lane keeping.

On a side note: does anybody know how I can get the all weather mats for the car.

Also, my charging cable didn’t come with a bag, just dangling loose in the trunk. Should I just expect a bag and is this a Factory/VPC or Dealer issue?

US part number for the All Weather mats is: A-214-680-35-04

No cable bag? That's odd. My car came with 2. Ask your dealer.

If Distronic Cruise Control option was available separately like it is on some other MB models, then I think a lot less Driver Assist Packages would be ordered.

The problem is the hardware is the primary cost so they don't install it if it's not needed. The rest of it is pure software.

I am still shocked that the Edition 1 lacks this critical and also basic now feature in even mid range cars.

Since every other example has it, it's just a sneaky way of mentally anchoring customers to a lower price when the real one is immediately $2k higher

Happy to report my wagon is here. At dealer now and ready but likely cannot make it there until this weekend. Anything in particular I should check before taking her home?

Question for folks in the US: did anyone manage to negotiate a discount on an order car? I would think it's not impossible but curious what to expect from dealers around town or across the country. Feel free to PM if don't want to disclose openly.

^ FWIW, the nationally advertised lease on mbusa.com includes ~2.25% dealer discount.

Thanks! I’ll ask for the bags.
Are the two bags for a portable wall connector and a type-2 cable in Europe? I guess I will only have one.

Interesting - how do you plan on charging with the different socket given your car is a EU spec with the type2 connector and the US using J1772 mostly.

^ Yes. One is the portable wall connector, and the other is the Type 2 cable we use at public chargers.

I have adapters that I use.

Congrats on the new wagon!!! Apparently, you might need to make sure your charger and charger bag are there based off of an earlier post. How many miles should be on these cars when you order them? The dealership shouldn't be able to let it be test-driven by others, correct?

It's usually less than 10, but sometimes it can be more, as the factory will randomly pull cars for longer QA drives after assembly.

They shouldn't, but dealers can be scummy. His wagon still shows as an inventory unit. I'm not saying they would, but I have seen it happen where an ordered car was sold to someone else because that customer wanted it "right now" and agreed to pay more. Or, the dealer decided to charge a markup that the original customer would not pay. Always get things in writing!

My dealership assured me all custom orders are marked "sold" in inventory and on the physical vehicle upon arrival; and further that sold cars are not test cars for potential buyers. Mine has 8 miles on the odometer. I have yet to pick it up, but this Friday I get behind the wheel of this beauty.

we are living parallel lives. My dealer just confirmed same - “sold” sticker on the car. Odometer has 6 miles but I can’t get it until Friday due to work obligations….

I’m sure this is a weird question, but….

So I’ve sat in an E53 sedan but of course not the E53 wagon. Does the sunroof on the wagon slide back farther than the sedan’s? Or the same amount? It wasn’t too big of an opening on the sedan which is why I am asking…

Had like 12 on mine. I was fine with that. I know the car had just arrived in the morning.

2026 E53 Wagon
Sorry for all the questions but the MBUSA website for the E53 wagon is confusing (and maybe wrong) and the internet really doesn't help at all from my searches. I am not planning to upgrade the USB-C package and just getting the standard one. Without the upgraded package, do you get any backseat usb-c ports (specifically under the center rear vents)?

If you are on the E53 wagon "discover" page under the multimedia section you can select "view all multimedia features". I think the three USB-C charging ports selection has the wrong picture attached. The "standard" description says 3 usb-c ports but the picture shows 2 ports in the center slide area and 2 in the flip-up armrest area. It doesn't mention any backseat ports. The description in the E53 wagon "build" page in the options section states the upgrade usb-c package has six ports but the picture attached shows 2 in the center slide area and one in the flip-up armrest area. The writeup does include a statement of two in the "rear center armrest" but this would make me think of the rear seat fold-down cupholder area, not under the rear center vents.

Just all confusing and I am trying to figure out if i need the USB-C package upgrade or not...
