wireless charging pad

is there some trick to getting this to work automatically? its ridiculous that it does not work in my E 450 unless i start the car and then place the phone on that silly mat. even then sometimes it does not work. phone is a samsung S25 ultra. have tried with and without the case which worked 95% of the time in my gle 450.

.
The phone must be perfectly flat on the charging pad and the ignition on (not acc mode) for it to charge. AFAIK the engine does not have to be running.

is that apparently removable mat necessary?

I like to keep a thin case on my S24 Ultra and found that the wireless charging will often stop and then start again while the phone is sitting on the charge pad. Removing the case eliminated that, but I grew tired of removing the case each time. I decided to remove the rubber mat on the charge spot and have not had the issue with the case on the phone. There is a little wiggle room for the phone, but the phone continues to charge regardless of the little movement. Make sure you are putting the phone top first as I think the other way may not work, but I've never tried that. If your case is too thick or has metal in it, you may not get it to charge even without the rubber mat. Try the bare phone on the rubber charge mat to verify and go from there.

Maybe. I think the best thing to do is eliminate the case as a test at least to verify it charges consistently. That must be done with the rubber mat or the phone will be too sloppy in place to stay where it needs to be. Assuming it charges reliably in that mode, then try with a case but without the rubber mat. If it doesn't charge, it's likely the case. I'm using the following case without the mat and have no issues.

Thanks for the recommendation on the case that is a good simple looking case. Sadly it does not ship to Canada let me see if I can find an alternative seller.

I will try removing the mat and seeing if this brings more consistency. I had considered doing it anyway but your post reinforces that I probably should. guessing the mat is to prevent slippage.

Hmmm, try disabling the app on the phone?

In AA config you can disable auto start.

Are you saying it won't charge even with a bare phone?
