Burmester 4D
Can anyone share any thoughts or feedback about the 4D Burmester that, I believe, comes standard in the 53 wagon? Anyone happen to listen to both that and the base 3D in the W223?

I don't have the E53, but I have the 4D Burmester option in my E350 and the sound is pretty amazing. The "4D" feature uses sound generators inside the seats to create physical vibrations that enhance the bass experience.

Yep - it thumps! Burmester systems in both MB and Porsche are my absolute favorite. Incredible clarity and sound quality. The in-seat speakers in the 4D system are adjustable, separately, for driver and passenger side. I have them set to level 4 (out of 10) right now and it provides a nice effect without being totally distracting.

I just looked at the specs and the 3D base in the S Class is similar to the 4D in the E. The base 3D in my current car is epic so that’s good to hear.

I can’t compare it with the other setup the OP asked about, but this is one of the best car audio systems I’ve heard. To get the most from it, use lossless sources. I play lossless tracks through the built‑in Apple Music app (CarPlay doesn’t support lossless), and the extra detail reveals nuances in songs I thought I knew by heart.

E450 Wagon, GLC300, E550
I don’t like or use the resonator in my seat, but the 4D in the E450 Wagon sounds fantastic and keeps its composure (stable frequency response and low distortion) even at levels that are way too loud for me to listen to. The Burmester in my 2019 Wagon was excellent, but the 2025 AT Wagon is even better to my ears. Larger surrounding soundstage yet somehow better spatial location of instruments, less audible distortion when played loud, and more options for tailoring to your preferences if desired. It also helps that with the sound insulating glass and airmatic suspension that better absorbs rough roads, my 2025 Wagon has a quieter background.
