Good day everyone,
I have a 2025 E450.
Q: Particularly in the colder weather and shortly after starting up the car; I hear some sort of mechanical whirring sound coming from under the hood. Sometimes for 2 seconds but occasionally up to 5 seconds.
From my history, it almost sounds like vents moving or something of that nature but it’s quite loud. I’ve only had the car for three months, but I just started to notice it when the weather got cold. I keep my climate settings on auto for reference.
Also - I have the digital light package, but really the only functions I have is the spotlight and auto high beam. I did some digging, and it turns out that a lot of the functions are very restricted in Canada. Has anyone else found the same? Seems like a waste of an option.
Lastly - I have the premium ambient light package. Does anyone else notice that occasionally the internal colour scheme changes on its own up upon a new startup of the car for no apparent reason? Minor issue but worth mentioning.
Cheers

The digital light functions are very limited in the US as well. There are people/companies here that you can work with to re-program and enable the full package. I will be doing that as soon as i get my car next month.
2023 E 450. Same whirling sound at times. Busy mice running on large wheel. Normal I guess, but worry that it is unhappy power steering pump or some other mechanical gremlin. Not much you can do unless something breaks. Im sure dealer would be happy to listen and tell you it's normal too. Check your ambient light settings. Lots of modes to choose from. I like frequent changes.

I assumed that noise was some sort of hybrid battery cooling magic going on.

Do you have Airmatic? It could be the suspension airing up.
