Backlit Black Ash Dash...

Hi all,

Does anyone have the backlit dash (in front of the passenger seat) that lights up a bunch of Mercedes emblems? I'm wondering if it's distracting, not attractive, chintzy. Or, really nice. And if it can be toggled off without affecting any other ambient lighting. I don't have it now but it might be an option on my next e450. Thanks!

I have it and it's pretty cool! When ordering the car I was apprehensive as I thought it may be a bit garish but I love it.

I have it in my E 350, nope it isn't distracting at least not more distracting than ambient lighting, it is pretty good at night, I specifically chose the non super screen because I appreciate wood more than glass, I don't have use for the passenger screen and the laser cut stars in the wood is a fine touch. Without it, at night, it is less exciting as there is no light in the wood.

As for turning it off individually I can't remember but you can set ambient lighting based on zones.

OP, so I just checked my car, good news, you can turn off that part of the ambient lighting if you don't want it on at times. You turn off linked zones and just turn off the "accents" zone.

There are total of 4 zones, direct, indirect, accents, light band. The maximum "brightness" that can be set is 20.

My Recommendation is definitely go for it and option it unless you want just simple elegant wood.

I got home to upload a shot of my Dash at night, Hicksra pulled the trigger faster
I chose this over the superscreen and specifically sought it out. You can have the lights super dim or off altogether if you find them distracting, but as many have said, I think it gives it a different touch from all the multiscreen setup with passenger screens which seems to be the current thing in the auto industry (though the superscreen I believe is more tasteful than the Hyperscreen in the EQS). I still love old wood and leather. I think however an uninterrupted large slab though still pretty would be somewhat less ideal, but to each their own when it comes to such things. Another good option imo is the natural grain brown maple wood with aluminium lines.

That looks really nice. Still maybe a bit flashy, and previous picture in a muted white look much more simplified, classy in my opinion. Or, if I can, I will turn off only that dash backlit portion. Thanks for the pics! (This is for a e450 I am getting ready to buy that has this backlit dash lighting).

Yes OP, like I mentioned in my previous post, it can be turned off, it is the "accents" zone that you just simply dim from 20 to 0.

Slightly off-topic, but i really like how your Ambient Lighting is multi-colored within a singular strip. For some reason, my car does not do this - despite the dealer updating the ambient lighting software numerous times.

Enjoy!

Enjoy!
Are you talking about the options in the "colour" menu? Make sure Monochrome is not selected, if music visualization is on that also displays different colours. Energizing comfort also affects the ambient lighting gradient.
