Backlit Black Ash Dash...
Does anyone have the backlit dash (in front of the passenger seat) that lights up a bunch of Mercedes emblems? I'm wondering if it's distracting, not attractive, chintzy. Or, really nice. And if it can be toggled off without affecting any other ambient lighting. I don't have it now but it might be an option on my next e450. Thanks!

As for turning it off individually I can't remember but you can set ambient lighting based on zones.
There are total of 4 zones, direct, indirect, accents, light band. The maximum "brightness" that can be set is 20.
My Recommendation is definitely go for it and option it unless you want just simple elegant wood.

I chose this over the superscreen and specifically sought it out. You can have the lights super dim or off altogether if you find them distracting, but as many have said, I think it gives it a different touch from all the multiscreen setup with passenger screens which seems to be the current thing in the auto industry (though the superscreen I believe is more tasteful than the Hyperscreen in the EQS). I still love old wood and leather. I think however an uninterrupted large slab though still pretty would be somewhat less ideal, but to each their own when it comes to such things. Another good option imo is the natural grain brown maple wood with aluminium lines.
