Dynamic low beam

Digital light projections were just activated from my e450 based on the software update to the head unit.

It apparently features a dynamic low beam setting.

Does anybody know what this does ?

Edit: chat GPT seems to acknowledge that the low beams had curved tracking functionality beforehand but is now suggesting that this latest upgrade is allowing for the selective activation deactivation of various pixels to selectively illuminate the road or to dim the pixels selectively for oncoming vehicles.

I did a search across MB world on this function and wasn't able to find anything definitive

The digital projections for US cars are nothing special. It's not ILS+. It amounts to some silly light shows then you start/stop your car that you can only see at night and when there is clear space in front for the lights to project about 30 feet out. Then there are arrows that will project on the road while driving when you are using active steering and it changes lanes or if you veer off to one side or the other as an alert to stay in your lane.

The dimming of pixels around oncoming traffic or a car in front is called ILS+ and as far as I know still unavailable in the US. There are reports that MB finally got approval for the US, but unless your car shipped with the feature enabled you likely won't get it. At least not from MB. There are third party programmers that can enable it. I have and it's pretty cool, but I had to pay extra for someone to enable it in my car. All the hardware and software is there, it's just disabled. It would be nice for MB to include it in a software update but I'm not holding my breath.
