Stock 2003-2006 E55 valve covers

I replaced mine with powder coated versions. These came off today and are in great condition. I'll post pictures after I clean them up a bit. They came off a 2003 E55.

$125 shipped in the lower 48

It really wasn't that bad. I've only worked on Mustangs and other American cars. This was my first real experience on Mercedes. I took about 5 hours to complete it start to finish and that included changing the stock plugs. My plugs had never been changed and that took probably an hour a side. It is definitely a workout.... My hands look like I fought a pitbull... The passenger side is really easy. The only hard part on the drivers side is moving the vapor line over so you can get the valve cover off. With a lot of careful prep and makring every wire, nut, etc. it is not a big deal. I reached out to Shardul for weeks on doing this. If you do it, I can send you all the details he provided, which certainly made things much easier.

Also, not sure if you are still running the plugs that came from the factory or not. I went with NGK's 1 step colder(preparation for the pulley and tune) and I can feel an immediate pickup in power throughout the power range.

I am going to do the plug swap too. Do you know the part number and can you see the valve covers with the engine cover on? I want my covers in viper red.

I'll take a picture in the morning and send them to you. You can see them but, they don't jump out at you. If you did red, they would definitely be more obvious. The plugs are NGK IRIDIUM IX SPARK PLUGS KIT #2309 LFR7AIX. I got 16 of them for $128.95 but, know another person that can do $106 shipped. His email is ngksparkplugs@hotmail.com

Do you think I should be running these plugs on my Kleemann set up? It is a pully, tune and headers.

I was under the impression that the NGK LFR7AIX plugs were pretty much the standard once you start modding the E55 motor. I'm relatively new to Mercedes so, I'm not the best to answer that question.

I can tell you that the plugs I took out of my car were the OEM Mercedes logo NGK plugs with 58K on them. I did nothing more than change the plugs and install valve covers/gaskets(retained factory wires) and could tell a dramatic pickup in power throughout the band.

I did the plug change in anticipation of the pulley and tune in a few weeks. It is a knuckle bashing exercise but, well worth the effort in the end.
