Up for sale is a RENNtech Front Mount Intercooler for the 1.8 L M271 I4 Kompressor 2.0–2.3 L M111 I4 Kompressor engines. I spoke with RENNtech today to verify the fitment, and was told that all of the W203 kompressor engines used the same intercooler. I asked for more information as well and I was also told that this was a limited production item and not many were sold and it was special order and obviously not made anymore. In excellent condition and extremely rare and top quality that you would expect from any RENNtech part. I am asking $1,000 shipped due to the parts rarity and quality. I realize this is basically the new selling price when it came out however you cannot get it anywhere. If you figure RENNtech selling a new W211 intercooler pump upgrade alone for $1,395 this is a steal for a FMIC of theirs. Basically impossible to find. I've sold a lot of RENNTech previously mostly carbon fiber airboxes and I sure anyone who has purchased from me can vouch for a good experience. Will consider offers as well. PM me if interested.

 

What do you gain if anything if just this part is installed?

 

In terms of horsepower? I'm not certain. You would have to ask someone more educated on the engine then me. From my turbo / supercharger knowledge I would say that as the air is compressed from the supercharger it gets hotter loses density and cannot expand as much. So the air being cooled from a larger, more efficient intercooler core it will provide better cooling of the compressed air exiting the supercharger before it gets to the intake manifold via the intercooler. Basically the hot air from the supercharger is cooled better by this intercooler because of its increased volume and core size and reduces the air temperature more then the stock intercooler therefore making the air more denser going into the combustion chamber making more power. Hope this helps.

Actually not much, if any. It's true the charge is cooler but there is actually a slight decrease in pressure with the larger intercooler to offset any gains. There were dyno charts on here back in the day but they're all long gone by now. Mind you, it may be a different story if you combined this with a pulley and a tune.

Actually it's a Spearco core with ends welded on and a Renntech emblem as was determined in 2002. Not to say it doesn't work.
