Gauging Interest - Complete M156 Longblock
Long story short the customer purchased the car on Ebay as is and was told it was at one point a perfect running car that had been sitting for many months (given the shape of the paint I believe it) and would no longer start. When the car arrived from the shipper it would not crank. After diagnosis it appeared to us as if the motor may have seen some debris as there was a small amount of metal under the oil cap as well as a small single chunk of metal missing from the cam gear. Without diving into it any further the customer insisted of purchasing a motor from ebay and just replacing the longblock entirely.
After receiving the "in great shape" longblock from ebay it was apparent it was pulled from a wrecked car. The front passenger cam cover was cracked so we pulled the valve cover off to find the intake and exhaust cams both snapped off. So we swapped those over from the original motor and proceeded to get the swap done. There was no damage to the cams so IMO the engine saw a minimal amount of debris through it. After the new motor was in we were still faced with the no crank issue. A quick check of the ECU connections showed that water had made its way inside of the harness and corroded one of the connectors and fried the ECU. A new ECU, clean harness and a trip to MB for programing alleviated the issue and the car runs and drives and is back on the road.
That is the background on the engine from the day it made its way into the shop. I firmly believe the shortblock is 100% perfect and obviously the car didn't run due to the ECU issue. But there is minimal damage to the cam gear as well as a small amount of metal under the oil cap. So obviously the sale of this engine will be AS IS.
Sorry for the novel but I just want to be as clear and up front as possible.
So what we have left:
Complete M156 Longblock except for passenger camshafts.
54,000 Miles out of a 2007 CLS63 AMG
Wiring harness and box of misc M156 parts from both motors.
I will be more than happy to provide pictures to interested parties. Shoot me a PM and I will get some over to you asap.
As for price. We are negotiable but obviously aren't going to give it away. Feel free to shoot me some offers!
Shipping also will not be a problem!
Thanks!

I can give you $700 for it given the cost of undoing all the issues you indicated.
You could do much better taking the engine apart and selling it as refurbished. But that is only my opinion.
