. This came out of a 2004 s55 and will go into another s55 with no problem. It can also be retuned to fit any of the other mercedes supercharged v8 engines as long as the part number is the same. It will require reprogramming if not going into a s55 but many companies/people can do this for a small fee. Super fast shipping!

Just FYI, as you already mentioned, I bought same part # from an S55, my E55 would not crank with it installed. I was able to have it reprogrammed at the dealer (I work there) and it works great.
