EQA 250

So far very happy on driving EQA 250, just had yearly service visit, no issues.

On summer I get more than 500km (310miles) of electric range and on winter (-22C) I get 50% range (250km = 155miles).

Here some videos which I have made:

Service mechanic observations:

Summer range 100% battery charge:

Winter -22C consumption test:

Here I charged EQA 250 from 57% to 100%, got very nice result: 550km of electric range with full charge.
Battery netto usable capacity is 66,5kWh.

Far from happy- malfunction warnings and 4 recalls so far!

We have been Merc owners for over 25 yrs and have owned

All too frequent malfunction warnings!
190 e, CLK, W204 estate, C 350 cdi, E 359 CDI Cabriolet and 2 E class 350 CDI night line estates.
Unfortunately we brought a year old 71 plate car from a main dealer! From the 2nd month started having issues monthly “malfunction “ warnings in the binnacle and “towing not permitted” (see pictures) when getting into the car - won’t start. Have to lock up walk away 300ft and wait 15 minutes.
The Dealership keep the car for
weeks “we know there is a problem but the diagnostic won’t tell what it is!”
have tried to reject the car under consumer law MBFS are refusing!
The final straw is a recall for a power steering issue “possible loss of directional control “

Is EQA new? I don't see it on MB website. Suomi only?
What part of Finland do you live in?
Kiitos

EQA is sold in Europe, including Finland, so not Suomi only model 😃

Winter is coming here is Finland, so it will be interesting to see how the winter goes, last winter we had -25C temps several weeks and a lot of snow, but EQA survived very well. Electric range decreased 50%, which was expected, but still managed to get 250km electric range which is fine, atleast for my daily needs.

Well good luck to you. I have read a few times that it's been getting cold there a little sooner than normal. Keep the pirakka warm!

We recently bought an August 2023 built Dealer Demo EQA 250 (H243). So far so good in beginning to come to grips with the sophistication of all the control options. I'll post further observations on utility and performance in due course.

One query I have for the forum relates to retrofitting a motorised trailer hitch - OPTION 550 ITEM # [SA-550]. These are not available as factory or dealer fitted options in Australia. Does anyone out there have knowledge of whether the factory genuine parts comprising this option are available anywhere in Europe?

Here I created a short 56s video, how MB EQA electric towbar works in practice:

Excellent video thanks. Looks terrific. Super convenient. I'd be interested to see the full sequence involved to couple up a load. Connecting the cable, seeing how the dash display responds to the connection and any other facets of what's involved to set the vehicle up for towing,

Reading the vehicle manual in detail there are quite a number of factors that towing influences in the balance and performance of the car.

By the way, how does the vehicle sense not to let you deactivate the tow bar once you a load on the ball? I presume the tow bar switch would be disabled if the trailer plug is connected and the vehicle can sense a trailer is connected, but what happens otherwise? Does it have a load sensor in the ball coupling?

I'm keen to see if its feasible to retrofit this feature, or at least to source the factory tow bar wiring loom if my only option turns out to be installing an after-market version of the tow bar mechanism itself. At least then some of the vehicle safety smarts may still work if programmed correctly even if that clever motor retraction feature doesn't.

Its interesting that @philipot indicates it wasn't an option for him on his 2021 model. I was checking out the more recent EQA 250+ build my car options on the UK MB site and it is certainly an option offered currently.

@Tonde1 would you happen to have access to the MB part numbers for the components comprising that option on you vehicle?

I only have the EQA 250 factory order, where is mentioned all the options codes:
Towbar, electric, ESP trailer stabilisation • 550

When I connect the trailer plug to the car, car indicates it, and it ex. automatically proposes route navigation using trailer when I power on the car.

I also presume the tow bar switch is disabled when the trailer plug is connected, but haven’t dared to try 😃

I could do another video of full sequence involved to couple up a load and trailer, but cannot promise…as it’s now winter ❄️ Could try to do it on spring time….

Fully understand. Finland in winter is not Sydney in the summer. Though we've had some super wild weather here this past week. Almost winter conditions mid summer.

Anyhow, if there a chance next time you have dialogue with your local MB dealer/service, see if they'll give you the part numbers. I've tried here but they say its not accessible on their systems as its not an option available here.

By the way; what do know about the "ESP trailer stabilisation" function? Is it a software coding thing or a piece of extra sensor hardware?

At least software, as car detects trailer plug immediately. But could require some extra sensors too…difficult to say how ESP knows in practice when the trailer starts to skid.
