Production Date

Only that production date moved back from 12/3 to 1/20/2023 - “technical freeze” was the cryptic reason. Just watching interest rise, used car prices coming down…

No kidding.

And now it looks like the current IRS guidance is clear that we will lose out on the $7500 credit, even if grandfathered, since our deal did not close before Dec 31. At least our EQB made it across the Atlantic but now it’s in Baltimore at the VPC.

MB is offering $7500 lease cash but then that gets put into the blender with residual values and rising interest rates. Ugh.

We were planning on just doing a cash deal, but leasing may now make sense given the “new” circumstances. Just trying to run various financial scenarios to see what’s what.

Between the IRS and the Inflation Reduction Act and Mercedes Benz, they’ve done a great job of making this transition to electric FUBAR’d. I see now that MB has 2022’s languishing on the lots either bc of all of this, and the lack of truly developed charging for non-Teslas, and/or because some fool decided to send luxury electric vehicles to the US market without electric seats.

IMHO MB, at least on the EQB, is going to have to adjust on the MSRP and financing as they failed to timely deliver, and they failed to lobby Congress in advance of the IRA.

A lease worth transparent discounting may make sense, or a concession on MSRP to account for the loss of the $7,500 tax credit is going to be needed.

E class
My local dealerships all ask for 5K above MSRP, and they sold within a day or 2 after arrival.

After reading this again, I believe we may be misinterpreting the IRS here. The guidance is specifically meant to address the 2022 tax year, and this is probably why it states you had to take possession prior to 1/1/23 in order to claim the credit for 2022. Notice the guidance does not explicitly address vehicles entered into contract prior to enactment of the IRA but delivered in 2023. The IRS obviously tries to find and close as many loopholes as possible, so I doubt this was a careless oversight on the part of staff. When 2023 tax season rolls around, I suspect the IRS will confirm that you can claim the credit if you had a binding contract in place prior to enactment of the IRA.

Just placed order for 2023 EQB300W4 today and my rep told me he would let me know when he can confirm allocation. At MSRP. He says they never asked above MSRP for any vehicle except G Wagons. So I won't actually count on it until I have a confirmed allocation. Their January allocation for builds as late as May is taken and they are awaiting February allocation in a week or two.

Any ideas about the tax credit for installing a EV charger in your home? Looks like it was an option for tax year 2022, curious about this year, as I am getting ready to install one this month.

FWIW, it got re-instated with the Inflation Reduction Act.

Re: my post regarding EQB300 ordered 2/1/23. On 2/28 my rep called and said they had an allocation with PO number and a build scheduled for 2nd decade June '23. Double checked order and exactly as we had configured. Now hopefully no omissions. By the way, ventilated seats are not available. And I don't consider that a problem since we had ventilated seats in previous GLC and current GLE. They really have very little effect so really no big loss.

For what its worth, I ordered mine March 2022. I got an allocation for October 2022 in August. The build started late October. Car shipped early February and arrived earlier this week. So even if you have a build date you may have a few months wait (I suspect my build took extra long because they didn't have what they needed for the '23 with Pinnacle until late 2023).

From what I can see from this most recent DOG, Driver Assistance Light is now Driver Assistance with the addition of pre-safe and an increase from $1300 to $1700. My order dated 2/1/23 and allocation on 2/28/23 shows the Driver Assistance Light. I'll contact my SA to determine whether my June build would be switched to the full package, which I would much prefer since I had those features with my GLC and GLE.

No word from my dealer yet about the changes in the DOG. He was going to reach out to his inventory manager for her to follow up. My question is two fold-- does the equipment and price changes affect orders already in the system and presumably locked or will it apply only to new orders. I also note the U21 dashcam is no longer shown as an option and I had that on my build. Of course, if I had a choice between dashcam and the complete Driver Assistance Package, I would take the driver assistance package. Even if it means accepting a later allocation I would do so. My GLE lease is up in October so I have time.

Update-- We were able to switch the Driver Assistance Lite for the full Driver Assistance and car is still scheduled to build second date June '23. Just a glitch on the build sheet priced the package twice but rep says that of course we will not be charged twice for it. I had reservations about the DA Lite because of lack of some of the pre-safe and auto-breaking features. Glad it will be the same DA package as my GLE. What he did not clarify was whether all cars in the pipeline would be switched to the full DA package since Lite doesn't show up at all on the new DOG. The new DOG also does not show the U21 Dashcam but my order still shows it. Now, back to waiting...

And the next update-- car built 6/9/23. Final build sheet shows the full DA2 package per the 4/6 DOG $1700 as well as the U21 dashcam ($200) which was shown in Netstar and DOG as of 2/1 when I ordered the car but which was no longer in the 4/6 DOG. So I got the best of both worlds. Now the question is how long it will take to ship from Hungary to Bremerhaven and from there how long to load on ship to Baltimore.
