Trim failure

The trim at the bottom of the rear passenger door on my car is becoming unglued. $130,000 car and they use 3M double sided tape instead of pins. Looks like the trim warped in the sunlight. Dealer will replace.

Dealer ordered new trim strip. There was only 1 in the entire country. Not a big deal to remove the original and attach the new trim.

Having done trimwork removal on the rolling restoration of my nearly 30-year-old W124, I can say that clips become very brittle after some time. Not saying glue is ideal, but it's much easier to remove in the long run. Might be a non-issue in this forum, who knows how many EQEs will be running 30 years later, but still something to consider.

The trim part was replaced today. The tech said that the original part had a curve, creating tension for the adhesive tape. The area was cleaned up and the new part was applied.
