I recently learned how to access the service position of the wipers so that the blades can be cleaned or changed. The following steps are required:
1. Depress the Start/Stop button without your foot on the brake pedal
2. Depress the Start/Stop button again to turn off the car
3. Depress the washer button on the wiper stalk for 3 seconds
The blades will now assume the service position.

Seems obvious, but remember to lower the raised wipers before turning the car back on or they will contact the edge of the hood and snap back down.

The wipers are not raised in the service position. They are positioned at the leftmost position on the windshield when activated.Originally Posted by LastOne

I knew that and wrongly assumed that you used the procedure so that you could raise the wipers off the windscreen. Otherwise what is the point of the process?
