Rear window exploded

Most of the glass went in the trunk, but you do see some scattered on the floor.

Also, do you live somewhere with EXTREME temperature variations? This might be a possibility.
I say these things because it’s highly unlikely it was an installation issue. The only option, in my opinion of course, other than someone physically damaging it, is the glass production its self. Glass is actually quite difficult to manufacture correctly. A very small degree of temp change in the cooling or annealing process could lead to pent up stress that eventually will give way in a spectacular fashion, like exploding.

This is the first I've seen or heard of something like this on an EQ (other than the panorama roof panels...)
I'm wondering if there could have been a concealed flaw/crack right where the wiper axle comes through the window. Or if somehow, an improperly mounted wiper unit was continually causing the wrong kind of stress on the window.
On an irrelevant note: Your garage door is very unusual. It's the only one I've ever seen with glass panels! It certainly makes for nice light in the garage while working on the car ;-)

“When a cold car window is exposed to direct sunlight, it may expand too quickly and fracture. Auto glass may also shatter if, after an extended, extreme heat exposure, it's cooled down rapidly.”
I remember 13-years ago when Family first moved to Oconee County some rich bored farm kids tagged my rental car with paint guns on 53 headed west from Watkinsville…didn’t realize it until washed car next day.
Sorry for window ldamage on your 24-month Lease…

Mercedes had no loaners available for next 2 weeks so I'm driving the Porsche daily now.
