Sound while Driving

So when I am cruising down the road I often hear what sounds like a fan blowing under the SUV. It gets louder when I accelerate and when coasting it almost disappears. Sometimes it's louder than other times. Any ideas what this is? It's definitely not road noise.

The electric motors would be my guess. Generally you should be hearing them more when recuperating or braking. They make a whining sound when recuperating energy.

Motors is my guess also but isn’t there a sound generator on the outside of the EQS to warn pedestrians you are near by? I have terrible hearing even with aids but have had a passenger claiming they heard something similar.

I'm wondering if it the same sound I'm hearing which almost sounds like a light brake grinding noise. I hear it more on deceleration. I think it is something with the HEPA filter.

When decelerating, the electric motors become alternators to regenerate electricity. They do make an audible sound that can be heard in the cabin. Normal for this car. Use the View mode to see when electricity is being sent back into the battery.

The cars have sound regardless of whether you turn on or off the sound generator options when driving. You'll hear a light whoosh or almost wind like sound. Its very faint, but its there even if you don't use the louder and more video game sound modes.

YES! That's a perfect description of what I am hearing. Its a woosh like wind and is faint but seems to randomly get louder. I will try turning off sound generator and see if that helps.

It's not the sound generator, that was the first thing I turned off. Also the sound generator is over powered by this noise so I just keep the noise generator off.

I believe several posts are describing the sound of the electric motors regenerating electricity. The first time we test drove an EQS 450 sedan it sounded like a fan running at times but I believe it's just the sounds of regen.

Yes I think this is probably it because it is prominent on deceleration.
