How do the EQS and BMW iX compare?
#51
Excellent, excellent review!
I was in the same position in regards to waiting. Had a $100k loaded iX 50 on order since March for my wife. Gave up in December waiting on a build and bought the EQS 580 SUV. Loved it so much, I bought an EQS 580 sedan for myself! I did drive both, so I had a couple of additional comments.
- I thought the iX ride was softer than the EQS SUV. I couldn't feel a single bump in the iX.
- The exterior on the iX is hard to get past, but there's absolutely No comparison on the interior experience vs the EQS. The EQS is hands down way more impressive with the giant screens, LED lighting and passenger dash controls that are absent on the iX.
- The passenger experience in the iX is pretty basic. "Nothing to see here..." Just ugly.
- The rear hatch and storage in the EQS is fantastic.
- Ok, you pay for the EQS. Ours was $145k, but had the dual motors and you'd have to move to the iX 60 for that and would approach $130k.

interior of ix is spartan, that’s the path they went. Benz went the pamper route. I love both tbh. Not either or for me

This YouTuber has a strong ongoing relationship with Tesla, which includes access to 1:1 interviews with Musky Elon and guided Tesla factory tours. He is using this opportunity to strengthen that relationship - unfortunately at the expense of MB 😂 .

I find it irrelevant and not at the expense of MB in my case. Between the poor vehicle quality and the amoral insanity of the CEO, there is no force on earth that would have me buy any Tesla.

We crossed shopped the iX before ordering our EQS, the the first thing that jumped out at us was that the inside felt cheap and plastic. I felt it handled better than the EQS, specially the brakes. Our brakes suck, it is the only thing that I dont like about the EQS. Also the iX felt smaller inside.

In my opinion, the iX and EQS SUV are not direct competitors. The EQS SUV is a full-size 3-row SUV. The BMW iX is a midsize SUV. The EQS SUV is more than 5" longer and an inch taller and does offer 3rd row seating, the iX does not (to short). The upcoming EQE SUV will be a direct competitor to the iX in size and cost. Then the comparisons will actually matter, again IMO, which don't count for much but is free. ;-)
Agreed its apples and oranges.
