Are all software updates OTA, or not?

1. Are you from the US?
2. Any reason why the dealer updated instead of the OTA feature?
3. Dealer charged you to update the software?
4. How about Map updates? Do you get via OTA or dealer updates for you?
Appreciate your response.

@abhansali Thank you for your quick response. I have an EQS SUV 580 brought in Sept 2022 with a 3-row.

2. I have not received any OTA updates. MBZ doesn't work like Tesla. Not sure what they will send OTA, but very few folks on the forums have got any OTA updates.
3. Most Dealers will try to charge unless it is to resolve an issue. So just go to dealer and say that your hyperscreen has frozen up a few times or it drops connection with your phone or something and then they will check it and do an update under warranty. Big issue is that a lot of dealers are wanting to keep cars for 2-3 weeks because they don't have enough techs trained on EQ line yet.
4. I don't know if I got a map update or not. Assuming any updates are part of what I got.

Also, here is the outdated map version which I'm using. Support Team mentioned new version is updated in Jan 2023.

@abhansali Finally dropped my car at the dealer for the following issues -
1. Car shows 80mph speed limit on roads with 25mph/40mph/65mph
2. They will check why my car is not receiving OTA updates
Mercedes Customer Service asked me to reach out local dealer since the car is still under warranty. Will keep you updated, if I hear some solutions from the service center.

Interestingly, on the software update page, it asks you for the connection, and I have put my home wifi (assuming it would update while parked in the garage). But others on the forum have said that you have to be driving to get the update (which seems very weird), and so I also tried setting that connection to my mobile hotspot on the Samsung S21 (Verizon), but still no update. But my daily trips are only about 20-25 mins max for any trip.
For #1, I have noticed that you have to pass a speed limit sign for it to update. So if you just turn on a road and have not seen a speed limit sign, I think it won't update

Yes, I did set up a car on my home wifi and tested it by running youtube on the car and it worked. Then using my iPhone hotspot. And now I have subscribed to Hotspot drive internet connection, but still no OTA updates.
Same here, my daily trips are 20-25 mins. I went on long trips too but no updates.
Response #1 - Even though it crossed the speed limit sign, it was not updating.
The car is sitting at the dealer's place for the last 24 hours. They called last evening to give an update that they are running on the backlog, and will work on the car today. Fingers crossed!

Finally, the dealer updated the Software to the latest version E329.
@abhansali - Not sure if you have summer tires or all-season on your EQS SUV? I have summer tires and I was notified that at 10K miles I'll have to change the tires.

@Utopia Texas - True, I'm from NJ and we usually use All season. My dealer was it came from the factory and we cannot change it to All season. You will get less EV range and more noise with All season. I never taught summer tires will only last 10K miles on EQS SUVs.

The MBUX is a dealer applied update, not an OTA. There are many other control modules each with their own dealer applied process. Seems like the owner needs to provide a good reason for needing the update. It is unclear what OTA updates.

In true German car brand fashion, OTA seems to be a line item in their marketing only and they never truly release a major update over the air. Who knows maybe Mercedes will prove me wrong in 2 years.
