How does Plug & Charge work after two years?

When free charging expires in two years what rate will be charged when using Plug & Charge? Will it be the EA member rate or the higher guest rate?

Once the two years is up I believe we start over with EA. From reading different sites I believe you will pay a higher set price per KWh as a non member but if you sign up as a member and pay a small monthly fee you will then pay a slightly reduced price per KWh. If you charge mostly at home and infrequently on the road being a non member makes sense. If you charge a lot on the road being a member will save you more money. Someone correct me if I am not correct on this topic.

That's how I understand it will work with EA.

What about ChargePoint? Will Plug & Charge work after the two-year free plan on that network too?

I don’t think anyone has an answer to your question as of yet. You may want to email or contact the individual charging companies and see what they say. If you find out anything please report back so the rest of us can figure out what to do at the end of our two-year period.

I forgot about the MB/ChargePoint partnership to install a network of chargers in the US over the next couple of years. That means that ChargePoint will likely support Plug & Charge and it will probably be billed through MB. I hope they do the same with EA. It would be nice if MB could negotiate the member rate when charging at EA.

I was told by the Mercedes dealership Technology guy, (i think that their title) that after your two year is up you would normally charge your car like you do now instead of getting the first 30 minutes free you paid for what you used. You can charge at any charge stations with J1772 and pay with a credit card or set up an Electrify America and Charge Point account and input your credit card. You should have already setup an account with Charge Point by now.
