EA free two 30 minutes charging

Did you guys know you can use two free 30 minutes session one right after the other on Electrify American station? Just stop the charging session once it reached 30 minutes, unplug and wait till the EA screen reset and plug it back in for another 30 minutes. It doesn't work the 3rd times, i tried. From 20% to 80% about 55 minute using EA 150 KwH charger (you be lucky to get 93Kwh). It's like topping off your fuel tank if you have time to wait.

I suppose it is possible that the first time you charged for 30 minutes that the EA servers are not updated in real time. Then the EA charger could upload your session details and by the time you get to the third charging session, EA realizes that you were recently there. Obviously the EA help desk can communicate with the chargers at will, since they can control the session remotely.

Last night were my 4th times doing a two 30-minute charge session, so I know it not a fluke. Can someone try it and let us know.

I have been doing this for close to a year (different EV's that offered free charging). I stop at 29th minute and restart if needed.

Thanks for the tip. I’ll have to try this next time I’m at an EA charger. BTW I was just at a 150 kW charger and I was able to get 135 kW. That’s the fastest I have seen using a EA charger. It does vary by location. I was at a station where the person next to me on a 350 kW charger was getting 85 kW and I was getting 115 kW on a 150 kW charger.

I was at a 150kw charger that was charging at 53kw. While charging, an EA tech arrived to service the site. I mentioned the issue and he said the capacitors had to be changed which he would do. The following week, the site was back up to over 100kw. If you come across a slow charger, call EA. They will run a remote diagnostic and if it can't be corrected remotely, they will schedule a service call. Everyone should call for issues, it helps us all out. I've called a few times with the wait time being no more than 5 minutes.
