Windshield Washer Fluid

Does the new car come with windshield washer? I was shocked to see no fluid getting sprayed when I tried to use it. Apparently I need to fill it myself. I saw this product in Amazon. is this the right one?

In the four Mercedes I have owned I have used the regular washer fluid you can buy at any store and have never had a problem in the past 22 years. Your mileage may vary. 😊

While we're on the subject...
I don't have my MB yet - but I have found myself wondering how one knows the fluid tank is full when filling from that little "door". Do you just fill until it backs up into the little reservoir in the door?

I did what you are suggesting, closed the door and noticed that there was a puddle of washer fluid on the ground.

Hmmm... Seems like an uncharacteristically imprecise solution for German engineering!

All three of my SL550’s were that way. The over flow tube was below the entry point and any excess flowed to the ground behind the front tire.

You would had thought Mercedes thought about it (what happened to attention to detail?) and at least throw in some sort of indicator hinting the fill line?

If MB had not thought things out the reservoir would fill up and then spill the washer fluid on the paint as it ran down. As it is the overflow tube routes the excess inside the panel and down to the ground. This isn’t rocket science and having a sensor with the wiring and software to show the level would just add more parts and complexity. Filling the reservoir is a first world problem.

Well, first world problem or not MB likes to add sensors to pretty much everything so I am just surprised that they didn't here, that's all.

I agree that yet another sensor (and therefore another thing to go wrong) is not the solution.
I wish MB could simply have let customers open the hood/non-frunk! That would have solved it.

I am not saying another sensor is a good solution but given how MB does things in the past I was just surprised they didn't go with another sensor.

Anyways I agree with your opinion on them letting access to the hood but then they are also "worried" about the mostly covered high voltage components under the hood (as seen in the pictures posted on the forums of the hood popped open) and the customer messing with it. That said, as you are already aware, it is super easy to open and in the same location as their ICE, just no structs to hold it up when opened.

I read somewhere if you lift the hood up high enough past vertical it will stay up by itself.

P.S.- After my post I went out to see for myself and found the hood does NOT go past vertical as I had read. I did though find a post on either side to attach a strut so this must be how MB mechanics will keep the hood open.

I see I too thought the EQS still retained the "service position" across MB models.

Ah yes that is brilliant, if MB didn't install it, you do it yourself! Of course!

BTW - I just found that the car does have washer fluid. I just have to press the button bit more deeper to get the water out. Pressing the spray button half way only does the wiper action, I had to push to further down to get the spray out. My mistake!
