I think with EVs it's all about the tech. Nobody really wants a Tesla with hardware 3.0 when hardware 4.0 is already out. I'm kinda worried cars will become more like cell phones and the upgrade cycle will be shortened to every year or two. Would you buy a three year old Samsung S20 instead of a new S23? The S20 is practically junk already. I really like my EQE 500 SUV but think I'll HAVE to trade it for a new Mercedes with NACS plug when available or I risk losing most of my money.

This is exactly why I went with a lease on my EQE 500. I knew there were plenty of changes incoming and there's a lot of volatility in EV depreciation so I figured I'd lock in the residual with a lease. I knew it wouldn't be a keeper anyway since the NACS port is incoming along with better equipment levels as Mercedes works out supply chain and margin issues. Plus I'm looking forward to things like Digital Key making it from the E Class to the EQE.

Yeah leasing short-term might be the smarter choice but I just hate financing anything. Everything I own is paid off including my house. That's what happens when you keep people down for most of their lives with your corporate scores and credit @#$%. I don't need them now. @#$@ 'em! I'd rather lose $50K.

I find it interesting, and maybe a clue as to future EV styling, that the drag coefficient of the Prius actually went up:

.24 egg from Orson

.27 Lotus Prius

Which the EQS had the drag coefficient of 0.20 but you already know that I am pretty sure. They didn't even bother making the EQE as aerodynamic as the EQS for that reason.

Not sure if it's already mentioned but drag is the frontal surface area times the coefficient of drag, the coefficient alone has little meaning. Although the difference in coefficient of the i5 and EQS might be little the frontal surface area might be the reason for the egg like design.

To the general public they don't know. They are to believe the lower the drag co-efficient will therefore be better, it isn't entirely wrong but there is more to that. Just like how more megapixels in a camera isn't the whole picture, the software optimization and the aperture, focal length etc.
So honestly most of this is really just marketing.

MB is mostly a marketing company now. That is unfortunately how I see it lately.
