Wide backup camera

I always miss the wide backup camera in EQS SUV. The camera doesn't open wide enough. I recently noticed an icon on the screen when I back up. If I click on it, it shows a stretched wide angle view (using 3 cameras). it is awesome. I do like it though it takes away the 360 view.

Is this a new feature coming from a software update?

I doubt that was only added with a recent update. The wide view has been a feature of the 360 camera system since it was first introduced. I have front and rear wide-view perspectives in my 2019. I can easily switch between the different perspectives shown on the right of the display using the touchpad on the steering wheel or the rotary knob in the center console. Maybe a recent update brought the feature to the foreground, because with MBUX switching the perspectives is kinda hidden and much more cumbersome than it used to be. I always find it frustrating when I have a newer loaner. I found the old UI and perspectives a lot more helpful. I also much prefer the sideview with guidelines I get in my car (shown below) to easily line the car up with the curb when parallel parking. The lines show where the axles are and where the wheels begin along with a parallel line that leaves the car at a perfect distance from the curb or a wall if lined up. The newer perspectives in MBUX are not as good, IMO.

Thanks, the new wide angle is a stitched version of 3 different camera angles. It looks very seamless and truly shows as a real wide angle view. I was surprised because I never noticed this option for more than 1.5 years.

Yes, the wide view is stitched together. It's the same in my car. It uses the side cameras to extend the viewing angle. As said, this feature has existed as long as the 360 camera.

That’s been there the whole time. It is such a great feature. I love using it when I’m backing out of a parking spot and there are cars on either side and I can’t see. It’s the best

Thanks for this thread!!
I had no idea that I have this very same wide-angle feature on my 2023 EQE SUV. It's wonderful!! (MBUX E330)
