One of the best features that I've seen on the EQS that EV owners should appreciate is the ability to set the charge level that you want the car to arrive at your destination. As far as I am aware, no other manufacturer offers this (Tesla definitely does not). It doesn't sound like a big deal. But, when you've been driving electric for as long as I have, this convenience of knowing when to top off before reaching your destination is a huge improvement for EVs.

So be sure to check to see if your utility company offers a rebate and then purchase one of the chargers on their list.
It’s difficult to find threads here sometimes…

My ChargePoint install is complete and paid for.
Delivered, the unit cost $741.00.
Electrician installed from existing garage breaker box across three garage bays to an inside partition: materials, $437.00; labor, $455.00.

Total cost - $1,633.

That will come in handy on road trips.

So, I have a very basic question...if I already have a 240v NEMA 14-50 plug in the garage....do I need a charging station - like a ChargePoint? We have two homes...one has Wifi in the garage and the second home (condo) does not have access to Wifi in the parking garage - nor will I be able to add WiFi to the condo garage. I read the Chargepoint Home Flex charging station requires a constant Wifi network - that will not work for our condo. But that got me thinking, do the charging controls built-in to the EQS negate the need for a charging station? Or are there features with a charging station that go above and beyond the native EQS charging controls? If not a big difference without a home charging station, I'm thinking I can simply plug the EQS directly into the NEMA 14-50 plug. Am I missing something major here? Thanks, Dave

No you cant plug the EQS directly into the 14-50. You will need a Charging station (EVSE). Wifi is only needed for the "smart" features of a EVSE. The EQS does not need a "Smart" EVSE, you will be fine with a dumb EVSE. https://insideevs.com/features/34150...s-top-5-picks/

Since you are moving between houses, why not consider something that is portable that you can take with you? It also will provide you a bit of confidence when on the road knowing that you have a EVSE with you. Here's what I'll be putting in my car. I do have a permanent EVSE at one house, but will use this while on the road and at my other home. EVSE Portable Charger

That portable charger is a good idea. It got me thinking….I will never need the J1772 to Tesla adapter. But, I could see using the reverse of that….plugging the EQS into a Tesla destination charger, let’s say, at a hotel.

I got both. I have a home charging station (chargepoint) and bought a portable Ford 110/220 charger to keep in the car.

That exists. TeslaTap sells one (http://www.umc-j1772.com/index.php?r...tegory&path=17). Figure out if that will be worthwhile for you. As for the mobile EVSE, do not get the Lectron one. EV owners from other forums reported melted plugs and the Amazon listings are filled with fake reviews. The Ford one mentioned earlier is a good idea.
