Holy smokes. It will be very interested to see how this goes. Broad implications from insurance all the way to civil litigation. This will end up in the supreme court.

I doubt it. This is a black and white case. The guy was driving 90mph plus through a non highway intersection and ran a red light. He has no defense.

If he was using a Level 4 autonomous driving solution there might be a case, but he was not. He was using cruise control in a place where he should not have been using cruise control.

Autopilot is cruise control. The name may be misleading, but every Tesla owner knows that it is just adaptive cruise control. Nothing more nothing less.

I agree. even Tesla caveats the Autopilot in their disclaimer. Clearly the driver was operating in reckless manner completely outside of Tesla's parameter.
This should be a simple case.
