Center Console

Hello all,

I noticed today that in the center console area where you can put your cup of coffee, and wirelessly charge your phone there are the following items:
  • NFC indicator/tag
  • A key image
What are these for? I enabled NFC in the settings and placed my iPhone 13 next to the tag and nothing happens? Are both of these for some future functionality that hasn't been deployed yet?

Thanks for any info!

For NFC, I believe it is used in some markets as a mobile phone key
For the key image, it is where you place your key fob when the battery in it is depleted

You're welcome.

Edit: Just to clarify, you place your key there not to charge the battery, all it does is allow the vehicle to start despite the key fob battery out, you can try it by removing the battery from your key fob if you like. The previous gen MB keys uses a CR 2025 and the more recent (starting on an W213 E-Class in 2016) uses CR 2032. Your EQS key might also use a CR 2032 cell.
