It looks like S-Class is the only one with 1080p and it's the standard equipment now. But it's still short of the needed 4k res. The camera doesn't have a wide lens, so the recording is old-style square and narrow, with no sound and no auto-start. Plus, lots of other key features are missing.

You are correct. It is a security camera. All the reading I’ve done says get the highest resolution camera you can. If something ever happens you will want to be able to read license plates, clearly see peoples faces, etc. I have security cameras on my two homes. One records in 4 k and the other is 1080p. I have a difficult time reading the license plate in my driveway 25 feet away with the 1080p camera. Not so with the 4 k ones. I remember seeing an old episode of Forensic Files where an intruder broke into a store that had basic security cameras. Police couldn’t identify anyone because of low quality recordings and said if you’re going to invest in a security system it does no good if you can’t identify anything.

Finally! When clicking on the buy button next to navigation in the app it now opens this link: https://shop.mbusa.com/
Is the Mercedes navigation worth it? I hate that Apple CarPlay is not using the full screen.

My 450 came with dash cam and it also is auto ON and records continuous loop. Every time I “start” the car a message briefly pops up on the center screen and says “dash cam recording has started please observe local recording rules”. Or something very similar to that.

You probably don't live in the United States, where auto-recording is disabled on all MB models...

Can you enable "Auto-Recording" in settings? When you enter the car, the Dashcam records automatically, so you don't press "Start Recording" every time? If it's the original MB Dashcam, it should be disabled on all U.S. sold vehicles.

Now that the store is finally launched, can't buy navigation for my 2022 C300. It has hey Mercedes but no navigation package, saying "Mercedes-Benz Navigation is unfortunately not available for your C 300 Sedan vehicle due to the hardware installed ex factory." What's the point of purchasing it after market over the air then?
Under connect services it says "From 06/2022, the S-Class and C-Class Hybrid model series are expected to have partially restricted functions in the Mercedes me app until the end of August; these restrictions will be resolved with an over-the-air update. Alternatively, from July 2022 the update can be installed in the workshop." Will this update enable mbux navi purchase?
To my knowledge, the car comes with everything on board and it simply needs to be activated through software, no installation of a GPS or hardrive needed. Please advise.

I think the dealer Ordering Guide has a mistake on S-Class. It's not 720p, it records in 1080p. Watch this video around 8:20 time stamp:

So it's incorrectly stated as 720p on both the DOG and MBUSA configure site.

Thanks for the link. I'm wondering what the official entry point to the store is supposed to be. I was expecting it to show up in the Mercedes me connect app, but nothing so far. Other than knowing the link how is somebody to be made aware of the store? Looks like I can start renewing my services in August. They officially expire in September.
The current official way to get into it is through the current app, under Manage Services, and tapping the Buy button next to a service.
Overseas people have shown there is a Store section in the MBUX system, but it's unknown if that will appear in the US.

There won't be a separate app.

Just to confirm, I downloaded the Dashcam footage from the new S-Class. The entire footage is automatically divided into multiple 2-minutes clips. I opened the file property and it shows res of 1920 x 1280, which is a little weird size, but basically, it's 1080p although a little more square. The key figure is 1920, but the height is bigger than 1080 because of the narrow camera lens. So, the bottom line the footage is at 1080p resolution. So both, MBUSA and DOG are wrong... nothing new with MB. Look at the attached pic.
