The compliments and adorations keep coming
Almost every time I visit a charging station and someone else is also charging his/her vehicle, they stare at my 580 and comment “that’s such a beautiful car”. Today I went to charge my car at fast Electrify America stations. Sure enough I was given a wonderful compliment on the looks of the car. Additionally, another gentleman who was gasing up his pick-up truck, walked over to me and he also said it’s beautiful. He then proceeded to ask me many questions about how the charging works. He was astounded when I told him that I get free fast charging for two years.
Additionally, almost every time I go to the best car wash in the city, I get the same compliments from the workers about the looks. Today was no different.
I also get great compliments when I’m parked at a parking lot (usually quite a distance from another parked car) when someone walks by.

Indeed, I can't get my golf clubs out or put them in the car without someone stopping me and asking about the car, talking about how beautiful it is. Yesterday, a young couple in their 20's were raving about it. This is a stunning car, with phenominal capability.

We should be honest with ourselves... few strangers will walk up to you and criticize your choice in automobiles ("my momma always told me if you don't have anything nice to say..."). That being said, I have had the same experience, especially whenever someone sees the interior with the screens and lighting aglow.

I'm sure C8 owners get similar compliments. Everyone's definition of what is beautiful is different. Have gotten plenty of compliments on both my W211 and W212's. There were times I thought that the W212's front ends were ugly. There have been times when it was pulled up after being freshly washed at the dealer and another guy sitting there and I looked at it each other and said that is a damn good looking car. Who cares?

Well......most of us, probably even you. We all seek afirmation that our choices in life are good ones. "The guys think my wife is hot, my house is great, my golf clubs are the envy of the modern world, and my Porsche (et al) is admired by all", ha ha ha. Come on, man. You can't tell me that doesn't mean something to you. I do enjoy others liking my choice of car. Does it define me....of course not, I bought the car on January 2nd, before most of you had one. But it is kind of cool, no? YMMV.

The real point of this thread is a counter narrative to the general notion in the press and some in the public that the EQS styling isn't all that attractive. I see it as form follows function, and that is what fell out. They had a Lucid on the Mercedes showroom floor. I was pretty excited to see it as I thought that based on pictures it was a much better looking car than the EQS in a Detroit styling kind of way. After seeing it in person somewhat side by side with the EQS for sure the EQS's interior was preferable and even the exterior which I expected to really like because it resembled a Lincoln we had immediately looked antiquated against the EQS.
My real point is beauty in the eye of the beholder. Does driving a Mercedes give one some ego strokes myself included? Sure but I consider that a form of personal weakness. My BIL has a C8 he thinks he is driving a half price Ferrrari. I think that it is a styling disaster. He is self assured enough that he could care less what I think, he likes it and that's all that matters to him. When my dad had his '59 Mercedes 180, a kid in the neighborhood said it was an ugly little car. I loved that car. His dad drove a new '64 turquoise Chrysler Newport, which to my eyes was and still is a beautiful car. Of course I got to witness his Dad asking his mechanic son why the front end was leaning to the side . The answer being that it had a broken torsion bar. Which is fundamentally why my dad bought the Mercedes in the first place.
