Hold on wouldn't those be covered by warranty? I can't imagine this happened in that location due to a rock or other impact.

The double pane laminated glass is expensive.

Looks like somebody hit the window pretty hard. Warranty wouldn't cover that but your insurance should depending on how much your deductible is.

That could be caused by a powerful BB gun. 2-3mm diameter hole?
Check the car interior for a pellet.
If so, need to report this to the police, especially if this happened near your home.

The point of impact is very obvious, and not a defect in materials or workmanship covered under warranty.

Mine is slightly larger than the head of a pin right in the center of the crack. The crack developed overnight. I didnt even notice it.

I hope it lasts till it gets replaced its not like I can do a MacGyver on it. Luckily its only the outer pane.

Yes I see the impact points on both. It is surprising though. I have never had a side impact damage incident in any car I have owned.

The only time I experienced it was on vacation in Spain in the late 90s when someone broke into our rental car to steal a sweater and a bag of madeleines.

Actually, I just did MacGyver it with a strip of clear packaging tape. Hopefully, it will add a small measure of protection.
