Charging and security

I’m still a week into owning my 580 so forgive me if this question is in the manual. Is there a way to lock the charging cable to the car? Or can anyone walk by and press the unlock button in the charge port and disconnect my charge cable while charging?

Edit: it would seem that as long as the Key FOB is more then 1 meter away and the car is locked the charge cable is also locked. Unless one has specifically configured to unlock after charging.

I believe if you lock the car it also locks the the charger.

Agree. Only exception is if you specifically configure the car to unlock after charging is completed, which you SHOULD do if you are charging at a public location so that others can utilize the charger after your car has finished charging.

Yep charger etiquette something that should be part of the "owner training" you get when your new EV is delivered. Luckily most EV owners tend to be a friendly lot for now.... Given that in my area a lot DC chargers are 50 KW, if there is a line I keep my charging sessions as short as possible knowing that most other EVs will charge much faster than I can on that type of charger due to their much smaller batteries.

Just wondering how are your parking spaces located near each charger. We typically have two parking slots per charger and space for only two cars. It is not enough to get access to the charger cable but the car needs to be driven away too. If the cable reaches one parking slot further, there would be another charger closer (and free if your car is there).

Do you have single chargers with parking space fro two or four cars next to it or something like that?
