"Thunking" noise

"Thunking" noise
I hear and feel a thunking noise coming from the rear motor upon reversing and also at the beginning of a slow-speed creep forward.
Feels like something is being engaged.
Didn't think much of it until today when a friend with EQS AMG said he's not had that noise in his car.
Has anyone heard or felt this noise?

Ive had that happen very rarely when the car was brand new. If its loud or happens all the time I would have it looked at. And it never is wrong to take a look at the lugnuts..
Another thing famous for rear clunks; Something loose in the underfloor rear storage compartment....that was my problem, my gun safe would move around.....

This noise is more like a shuddering sensation. It is very brief in duration, perhaps 1 or 2 seconds long. It occurs when the car first starts going backward when you change from P to R.
It happens regularly, and I'd chalked it up to the motor engaging to the reverse gear.
